The Bowen family move into their new home. From the moment they move in unexpected events begin to occur. However the occurrences gradually increase until they culminate in youngest daughter Madison’s (Clements) abduction. The family seek the assistance of supernatural investigators, but will they be able to save Madison from their otherworldly housemates?
The latest Hollywood horror remake does a good job of scaring the audience. While the original Poltergeist still has some decent scares in store, the remake gives the tale a modern twist.
The plot sticks closely to the original in terms of the major plot points. However, there are enough differences to allow fans of the original to still get a few good scares and surprises.
The actors give decent performances in their respective roles as a terrified family, willing to do anything to save their youngest.
Overall though the remake doesn’t do anything spectacular or stand out as far as modern horror goes. The modern take on the original is a good revitalisation for the series, but would have been better as its own film than an average reboot of a classic.
