Russell Howard: Recalibrate (2017)

Review by CJ

Director:
Russell Howard

Starring:
Russell Howard

Running time:
69 minutes

In this Netflix original stand-up show, English comedian Russell Howard shares his thoughts on body image, being a teenager today and the Queen at home.

The only comedy I had seen from Russell Howard before watching Recalibrate were the snippets of his show often in the Facebook video vortices I often find myself. I always find them to be clever, well delivered and hilarious. That also perfectly sums up Recalibrate.

Recalibrate is a little over an hour of jokes that are a sometimes a little crass, sometimes a little silly, but always very funny. Russell’s delivery is spot on and he moves the show along at a good pace to cram many laughs into a relatively short amount of time.

Keep an eye out for the parts about the Queen of England, which were my personal favourites and have also changed how I watch The Crown.

If you like politically and socially aware British comedy that is still a little bit rude, then Recalibrate is not to be missed.
