Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2017: Critically Wil
Review by CJ
It’s opening night of Wil Anderson’s Critically Wil at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival when one of Australia’s leading comedians hits the stage accompanied by his signature introduction and AC/DC’s Back in Black.
Over the course of the next hour, Anderson shares his views on the new US President, extremist panel shows, vaccinations, Oxford’s word of the year, Millennials, equality, alternative medicine, medical practitioners and much more.
It’s not hard to see why Wil Anderson has been performing at MICF for 22 years. Critically Wil is hilarious, clever, thought-provoking and delivered with the high energy associated with Anderson’s performances.
I’ve been attending MICF for over 10 years and have never left a Wil Anderson show disappointed. Tears of laughter stream down my face at least once during all of his performances. Critically Wil managed to elevate that to “laughing so hard that sound stopped coming out” status.
I highly recommend Critically Wil to fans of political comedy with humanistic leanings and a dash of toilet humour.
